Job Overview

Saipem is currently recruiting an experienced Rig Electrician to support offshore drilling and construction vessel operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and safety checks on offshore electrical systems and equipment while ensuring compliance with operational safety standards.

Job Summary

The Rig Electrician will perform daily maintenance and inspections of electrical systems and equipment aboard offshore rigs and vessels. The position requires strict adherence to safety standards, offshore operational procedures, and emergency response protocols while maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.

The successful candidate will work under supervision while ensuring all electrical activities comply with company procedures and international offshore safety requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (JD)

The Rig Electrician will be responsible for:

Electrical Maintenance & Equipment Inspection

  • Carrying out daily inspection, maintenance, and repair of offshore electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults to ensure uninterrupted offshore operations.
  • Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on rig electrical systems.
  • Supporting operational reliability through proper maintenance planning and execution.

Safety Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensuring all electrical work is performed according to offshore safety regulations and operational procedures.
  • Conducting risk assessments before maintenance activities begin and ensuring work permits are signed and approved.
  • Using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring safety compliance among team members.
  • Promptly reporting hazards, near misses, incidents, and operational non-conformities through official channels.

Emergency Preparedness & Offshore Operations

  • Following emergency preparedness action plans and supporting offshore emergency response activities.
  • Participating in safety drills, toolbox talks, and offshore operational meetings.
  • Ensuring compliance with company-issued safety standards and operator requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Recording maintenance activities, electrical inspections, and fault reports accurately.
  • Supporting technical reporting and documenting maintenance interventions when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with offshore operational standards and electrical safety documentation.

Education Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Experience in Oil & Gas drilling operations or offshore maintenance environments is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of offshore electrical maintenance procedures and equipment reliability systems.

Mandatory Certifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Valid BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) Certification (Required).
  • Offshore medical fitness certification may be required depending on deployment regulations.
  • Additional offshore safety certifications are advantageous.
