Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of solar and wind projects from feasibility studies through commissioning and handover. Working within the Project Development department, the engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, local contractors, and government agencies to ensure projects meet technical, financial, and regulatory requirements. This role is central to TotalEnergies’ ambition to expand its renewable footprint in Angola and supports the broader vision of sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and engineering calculations for solar PV and wind turbine installations.
- Conduct site assessments, resource analysis, and grid integration studies.
- Prepare detailed project documentation, including feasibility reports, EPC specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor project performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with Angolan regulations, international standards, and TotalEnergies’ internal policies.
- Support the preparation of permits, environmental impact assessments, and stakeholder engagement plans.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV and wind turbine technologies.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PVSyst, WindPro, AutoCAD, and MATLAB.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills in English; Portuguese is a plus.
- Ability to work in multicultural teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Project management experience with a focus on renewable energy.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications or a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in renewable energy project engineering, preferably with a track record of delivering solar or wind projects in emerging markets. Experience in Angola or other African countries is highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from AOA 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and benefits outlined below.
