Job Overview

The Mining Equipment Procurement Specialist will lead the sourcing, negotiation, and contract management of heavy‑duty mining equipment, spare parts, and related services required for BHP’s Saurimo operations. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the specialist will collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment that meets technical specifications, cost targets, and sustainability criteria. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for mining equipment, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgetary constraints.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify international and local suppliers, conducting rigorous due‑diligence and compliance checks.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service level agreements to achieve optimal cost savings and performance guarantees.
• Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to define technical specifications and quality standards for all equipment purchases.
• Monitor supplier performance, manage key performance indicators, and resolve any delivery or quality issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and spend analysis reports in accordance with BHP’s governance policies.
• Collaborate with the finance department to ensure proper budgeting, invoicing, and payment processes.
• Support risk management initiatives by identifying potential supply chain disruptions and developing contingency plans.

Required Skills

• Strong negotiation and contract management abilities with a proven track record of achieving cost reductions.
• In‑depth knowledge of mining equipment specifications, lifecycle management, and supplier markets.
• Excellent analytical skills for spend analysis, market research, and supplier evaluation.
• Proficiency in procurement software platforms and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of five years’ experience in procurement or supply chain roles within the mining or heavy‑industry sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale equipment contracts and supplier relationships.
