Job Overview

The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security solutions that safeguard Angola Telecom’s backbone and access networks. Working closely with the Network Operations Center, the engineer will monitor threats, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with international security standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPN solutions across the telecom network.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis to identify potential security gaps.
  • Monitor security events using SIEM tools, analyze logs, and coordinate incident response activities.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with ISO 27001 and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with network engineers to integrate security controls without impacting performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and cross‑functional teams.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of security architectures, configurations, and incident reports.
  • Participate in audit preparations and support regulatory compliance audits.

Required Skills

  • Deep knowledge of network security technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, and Juniper SRX.
  • Proficiency with security monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and telecom-specific architectures.
  • Experience with cloud security concepts and hybrid network environments.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure during security incidents.
  • Effective communication skills in Portuguese and English.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or CEH are highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.
