Job Overview

The International Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, adaptation, and implementation of internationally recognised curricula for primary and secondary education programmes delivered by the British Council in Lobito. Working closely with local educators, subject‑matter experts, and the Council’s global network, you will ensure that learning materials align with both Angolan national standards and international benchmarks such as the Cambridge International Curriculum. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs analyses with Lobito schools and education authorities to identify curriculum gaps and localisation requirements.
• Design, develop, and pilot curriculum units, lesson plans, assessment tools, and teacher guides that reflect international best practices and local cultural relevance.
• Collaborate with the British Council’s global curriculum team to ensure alignment with Cambridge International standards and British educational frameworks.
• Provide professional development workshops and coaching sessions for Angolan teachers to facilitate effective implementation of new curricula.
• Monitor and evaluate curriculum impact through data‑driven assessments, feedback loops, and continuous improvement cycles.
• Produce high‑quality documentation, reports, and multimedia resources for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Angolan education policy, language requirements, and emerging pedagogical trends.
• Support the recruitment and onboarding of local curriculum consultants and subject experts.

Required Skills

• Expertise in curriculum design, instructional design, and assessment methodologies.
• Strong understanding of international curricula such as Cambridge, IB, or Pearson frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Portuguese is essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multicultural teams and build strong relationships with local educators.
• Project management experience, including budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools and educational technology platforms.
• Creative problem‑solving skills and adaptability to dynamic educational environments.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Technology, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in international teaching standards (e.g., Cambridge International Teacher Training) will be given preference.

Experience

Minimum of five years of proven experience in curriculum development for primary or secondary education, preferably within an international or multicultural context. Experience working in Angola or other Portuguese‑speaking African countries is highly desirable.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,800,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension contribution scheme.
