Job Overview
The AI Ethics Specialist will lead the development and implementation of ethical frameworks for AI projects across IBM Angola’s client portfolio. Working closely with data scientists, product managers, and legal teams, you will ensure that AI solutions are transparent, fair, and compliant with local regulations. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping policy, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance on bias mitigation, privacy protection, and accountability. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain AI ethics guidelines aligned with international standards and Angolan regulations.
- Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI models, identifying potential bias, privacy concerns, and unintended consequences.
- Collaborate with data science teams to embed fairness and transparency metrics into model development pipelines.
- Provide training and workshops for internal staff and client partners on responsible AI practices.
- Advise legal and compliance teams on AI‑related regulatory requirements.
- Monitor emerging AI governance trends and recommend updates to internal policies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for senior leadership and external auditors.
- Engage with government bodies, NGOs, and academic institutions to promote ethical AI adoption in Angola.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of AI ethics, bias mitigation techniques, and data privacy frameworks.
- Proficiency in machine learning concepts and ability to communicate technical details to non‑technical audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with experience conducting impact assessments and risk analyses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Portuguese.
- Project management capabilities and ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives.
- Familiarity with Angolan data protection laws and regional regulatory environments.
Education
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Philosophy, Law, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in AI ethics, data governance, or privacy (e.g., CIPP/US, ISO 27001) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years working in AI ethics, data governance, compliance, or a related discipline. Experience within consulting, technology firms, or public sector projects in Angola or other emerging markets is preferred.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 250,000 to 400,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
