Job Overview
As a Water Resources Management Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of water supply and wastewater projects that address the unique challenges of the Quibala region. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, local authorities, and international partners to ensure that projects meet regulatory standards, environmental safeguards, and community expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive water resource assessments, including hydrological modeling and demand forecasting for urban and rural areas.
- Design and oversee the construction of water treatment plants, distribution networks, and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Develop and implement water quality monitoring programs to ensure compliance with Angolan regulations and international standards.
- Coordinate with local government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders to align projects with regional development plans.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for senior management and stakeholders.
- Utilize GIS, SCADA, and other digital tools to optimize water system performance and support data-driven decision making.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams, providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are rigorously applied throughout project lifecycles.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of water resources engineering, hydraulic modeling, and wastewater treatment processes.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as EPANET, HEC‑RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS platforms.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on sustainable solutions.
- Effective communication skills in Portuguese and English, both written and verbal.
- Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments and engage with local communities.
Education
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CWW) are considered advantageous and reflect a commitment to continuous professional development.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in water resources management, water treatment plant design, or wastewater engineering is required. Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects in emerging markets, particularly within Africa, will be highly valued.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances are part of the total compensation package.
