Job Overview

The Pharmaceutical Process Development Engineer will lead the design, optimization, and scale‑up of manufacturing processes for novel drug substances and dosage forms. Reporting to the Head of Process Development, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams including R&D, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure that processes are robust, scalable, and compliant with global regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable manufacturing processes for small‑molecule and biologic drug candidates.
  • Conduct laboratory and pilot‑scale experiments to evaluate process parameters, yields, and impurity profiles.
  • Utilize statistical tools and Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize critical process variables.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including process descriptions, batch records, and validation protocols.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with GMP, ICH, and local regulatory standards.
  • Support technology transfer activities from pilot to commercial scale, ensuring seamless hand‑over to manufacturing teams.
  • Participate in risk assessments, root‑cause analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary project teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies, including crystallization, filtration, drying, and aseptic processing.
  • Proficiency in process modeling software (e.g., Aspen, COMSOL) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines (GMP, FDA, EMA, ANVISA) and quality systems.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field is highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical process development, preferably within a GMP‑regulated environment. Experience with scale‑up projects, technology transfer, and process validation is essential.

Salary

The competitive salary range for this role is 2,500,000 – 4,000,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
