Job Overview
The Grid Integration Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing grid integration solutions for renewable energy projects across Angola. This position involves close collaboration with project managers, electrical designers, and local utilities to ensure seamless connection of renewable generation assets to the national grid. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed grid integration studies, including load flow, short‑circuit, and stability analyses for solar and wind projects.
- Coordinate with local utility engineers to obtain interconnection approvals and ensure compliance with Angolan grid codes.
- Design protection schemes, relay settings, and control strategies to guarantee safe and reliable operation of renewable assets.
- Perform on‑site assessments, commissioning support, and performance testing of grid‑connected systems.
- Collaborate with the digital team to implement advanced monitoring and analytics platforms for real‑time grid performance.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders, including investors and regulatory bodies.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts during grid disturbances and propose corrective actions.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in renewable grid integration.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or ETAP.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, especially solar PV and wind turbine interfacing.
- Knowledge of Angolan grid regulations, interconnection standards, and utility procedures.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Project management experience with a focus on technical deliverables.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., IEC, IEEE) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in grid integration, power system analysis, or related engineering roles within the renewable energy sector. Experience working on large‑scale projects in Africa or emerging markets is advantageous.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
