Job Overview
The Risk Underwriting Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk exposure, and determining appropriate pricing structures for a diverse client base. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze insurance applications and supporting documentation to assess risk levels and determine eligibility.
- Utilize actuarial data, statistical models, and industry benchmarks to calculate premiums and recommend coverage limits.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports and risk summaries for senior underwriters and management review.
- Collaborate with sales agents to gather additional information, clarify policy terms, and address client inquiries.
- Monitor and review existing policies to identify opportunities for renewal, endorsement, or risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate records in underwriting systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting enhancements to underwriting processes and tools.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the insurance sector in Angola.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in quantitative risk assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with underwriting software.

Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Chartered Insurance Analyst (CIA) or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should possess 3 to 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, risk analysis, or a related financial services role. Experience within the Angolan market or familiarity with local regulatory frameworks will be considered a strong asset.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 400,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the total rewards structure.
