Job Overview

The Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing UNITEL’s radio access network (RAN) and core infrastructure in the Bocoio region and surrounding areas. This position involves close collaboration with RF engineers, project managers, and external vendors to ensure that network roll‑outs meet performance targets, regulatory standards, and budget constraints. The successful candidate will lead feasibility studies, develop detailed network designs, and provide technical guidance throughout the implementation phase. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive site surveys and RF feasibility analyses for new cell sites and network upgrades.

• Perform network performance simulations and optimization studies using industry‑standard tools.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) post‑deployment and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with Angola’s telecommunications regulations and international standards.
• Support the integration of emerging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and edge computing.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of LTE/4G and emerging 5G network architectures.
• Proficiency with planning software (e.g., Atoll, Planet, Mentum).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills in Portuguese and English.
• Project management experience with ability to meet deadlines.
• Team‑oriented mindset with capacity to work across multiple departments.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson) are considered an advantage.

Experience

At least five years of hands‑on experience in network planning, design, or optimization within a telecom operator or a major equipment supplier. Demonstrated experience with large‑scale roll‑outs in emerging markets is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
