Job Overview

This position is part of Veolia’s mission to ensure compliance with national and international environmental regulations in Angola. The Environmental Compliance Officer will work closely with local authorities, industrial clients, and cross-functional teams to monitor, audit, and improve environmental performance. The role is ideal for professionals passionate about sustainability and regulatory frameworks in emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental audits and risk assessments for industrial clients and projects.
  • Ensure adherence to Angolan environmental laws and international standards (ISO 14001, EU directives).
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies for waste management, water usage, and emissions control.
  • Prepare technical reports, permits, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders on environmental awareness programs.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics for corporate sustainability goals.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Angolan environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in environmental impact assessment (EIA) methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for compliance challenges.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English; French is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS mapping or environmental software (e.g., AQUATOX, EnviroTech).
  • Ability to work in remote or field-based environments.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree in Environmental Management or Public Policy is highly advantageous.

Experience

3–5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in Angola or neighboring regions. Prior experience in water management, industrial regulation, or NGO partnerships is preferred.

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
