Job Overview
The Industrial Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation solutions for Siemens’ key clients in the manufacturing sector of Angola. Reporting to the Automation Project Lead, you will be responsible for configuring PLCs, programming HMI/SCADA systems, integrating sensors and actuators, and ensuring seamless communication between hardware and software components. This role involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, on‑site client interaction, and adherence to international standards and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal, ensuring optimal performance and maintainability.
- Configure and program HMI/SCADA interfaces for real‑time monitoring and control of manufacturing processes.
- Integrate field devices such as sensors, drives, and robotics into the automation architecture.
- Conduct system simulations, testing, and validation to guarantee compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to align automation solutions with overall plant design.
- Provide on‑site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting support for client facilities.
- Prepare technical documentation, including functional specifications, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
- Train client personnel on system operation, maintenance, and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending upgrades and new technologies.
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers, reporting progress to senior management.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Siemens PLCs (S7‑1200/1500) and TIA Portal programming.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA/HMI tools such as WinCC, Ignition, or Wonderware.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Understanding of electrical schematics, control circuits, and safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
- Problem‑solving mindset with ability to diagnose complex automation issues.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
- Project management capabilities, including time‑line tracking and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Siemens Certified Programmer (SCP) or IEC Automation certifications are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing industrial automation solutions in manufacturing environments. Prior experience with large‑scale projects in Angola or other African markets is advantageous.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 250,000 to 350,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be included.
