Job Overview

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer will monitor, maintain, and optimize Unitel’s core network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of all telecom services. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance metrics and alarms using NOC tools such as SolarWinds, Netcool, and proprietary platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve network incidents, including routing, switching, and transmission faults, within defined SLA timeframes.
  • Coordinate with field engineers, vendors, and service providers for escalated issues and hardware replacements.
  • Document incident reports, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action plans in the ticketing system.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 coverage for critical network events.
  • Assist in capacity planning, network optimization, and implementation of upgrades or new services.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date network diagrams, configuration backups, and operational procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of IP networking, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and QoS concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix command line and scripting (Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work in shift patterns and respond to emergencies promptly.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of proven experience in a NOC or similar network operations environment, preferably within a telecom carrier or large‑scale ISP. Experience with fiber optic and microwave backhaul networks is a plus.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from 250,000 to 400,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be added to recognize exceptional contributions.
