Job Description:
SPIE Global Services Energy is hiring an Offshore Control System Specialist to support advanced industrial automation and control operations on offshore oil and gas platforms in Angola. Key Responsibilities:
Offshore Control & Maintenance Operations:
- Perform maintenance and technical support for ICSS, PLC, and automation systems
- Ensure system integrity, authorization control, and validation of software/hardware onboard offshore platforms
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure maximum operational availability
- Take immediate control of systems during breakdown situations until normal operation is restored
Technical Planning & Execution:
- Support preparation and planning teams with technical inputs for maintenance activities
- Organize and execute maintenance operations within assigned discipline
- Prepare detailed technical reports for field interventions
- Manage tools, equipment availability, and system readiness
Systems Monitoring & Improvement:
- Identify recurring technical issues and propose corrective improvements
- Review preventive maintenance programs and suggest optimization strategies
- Monitor spare parts availability and coordinate supply chain feedback
- Ensure continuous improvement of system reliability and performance
Training & Knowledge Transfer:
- Actively participate in mentoring and on-the-job training programs
- Ensure effective transfer of technical knowledge within offshore teams
- Support competency development of junior engineers and technicians
- Participate in assessments and skill-building initiatives
Quality, Safety & Compliance:
- Strictly apply QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environment) standards
- Conduct frequent inspections and quality checks of maintenance work
- Ensure compliance with offshore operational safety procedures
- Participate in emergency response team activities when required
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead small multi-national technical teams in offshore environments
- Organize rotational assignments and workforce planning
- Maintain effective communication across engineering and operations teams
- Demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making abilities
Candidate Profile:
- Higher National Diploma (HND/HNC/BTS/DUT or equivalent technical qualification)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in control and safety systems
- At least 3 years of experience as a specialist in petrochemical or oil & gas environments
- Strong expertise in ICSS/PLC systems (TRICONEX, EMERSON DELTA V)
- Experience with SAP or UNISUP CMIMS systems
- Strong leadership skills managing multi-national teams
- Ability to work in offshore conditions and rotational schedules
- Excellent English communication skills (French is an advantage)
