Job Overview

The Network Optimization Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and fine‑tuning network solutions to ensure optimal performance, coverage, and capacity across MTN’s radio access network in Angola. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement optimization plans, including parameter tuning, antenna adjustments, and software upgrades.
  • Collaborate with RF engineers to design and validate network enhancements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Utilize network planning tools and analytics platforms to model traffic patterns and forecast future demand.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to senior management and cross‑functional teams.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as RRC success rate, handover success, and throughput to measure optimization impact.
  • Participate in 5G pilot projects, contributing expertise to trial design, execution, and post‑trial analysis.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of LTE and 5G radio technologies, including RAN architecture and protocols.
  • Proficiency with network analysis tools such as Atoll, Mentum Planet, or similar.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and stakeholder reporting.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (Python, Bash) to streamline optimization tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in network optimization, RF planning, or 5G technologies are considered a strong advantage.
