Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead Nestlé Angola’s quality assurance function for its Luena manufacturing plant. This senior role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality systems that comply with national regulations and Nestlé’s global standards. You will oversee all aspects of product safety, quality control, and continuous improvement, ensuring that every batch meets the expectations of consumers and regulatory authorities. The position reports directly to the Regional Quality Director and works closely with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs teams.
As part of your daily responsibilities, you will drive a culture of quality excellence, mentor a team of quality engineers and technicians, and act as the primary liaison with external auditors. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and Nestlé Global Food Safety standards.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed effectively.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and conduct risk assessments to prevent product non‑conformities.
- Collaborate with Production and R&D to design and validate new processes, formulations, and packaging.
- Manage a team of quality engineers, technicians, and auditors, providing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Analyze quality data, generate reports, and present findings to senior management to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with Angolan food safety regulations, including the Ministry of Health and ANVISA guidelines.
- Oversee supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring to guarantee raw material quality.
- Champion a culture of food safety and quality across all plant functions.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards (ISO 22000, HACCP, GFSI).
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with proficiency in statistical tools (SPC, Six Sigma).
- Effective communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with ERP and QMS software (e.g., SAP QM, Nestlé’s internal platforms).
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment, preferably in a multinational corporation. Prior experience managing a team and leading audit processes is essential. Candidates with a track record of implementing successful quality improvement projects will be prioritized.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a pension scheme.
