Job Overview
The Construction Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and reporting on cost, schedule, and performance metrics for multi‑million‑dollar construction projects in the Cuito region. This role serves as a critical liaison between the project management office, field teams, and senior leadership, ensuring that all project data is accurate, timely, and aligned with contractual obligations. You will leverage advanced project controls software, develop robust forecasting models, and provide actionable insights that enable proactive decision‑making. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, integrating critical path analysis and resource leveling.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts, monitoring variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Generate weekly and monthly performance reports, dashboards, and earned value analyses for senior management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to ensure alignment of scope, schedule, and cost baselines.
- Implement risk management processes, identifying potential schedule or cost impacts and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular project control reviews, facilitating workshops and training sessions for field personnel.
- Ensure compliance with Bechtel’s internal controls, client contractual requirements, and local regulatory standards.
- Support the preparation of progress claims, change order assessments, and final project close‑out documentation.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in project controls software (Primavera P6, MS Project, CostX, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical abilities with a solid understanding of earned value management (EVM) principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Detail‑oriented mindset with a focus on data integrity and accuracy.
- Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
- Adaptability to work in remote field locations and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑ACP, or a Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in project controls for large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects, preferably within the mining, energy, or public works sectors.
