Job Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing the creditworthiness of loan applicants, monitoring existing credit portfolios, and ensuring compliance with internal risk policies and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Credit Risk Manager, you will collaborate closely with relationship managers, underwriting teams, and senior executives to provide data‑driven insights that influence lending decisions. This position is essential for maintaining the bank’s risk appetite, minimizing non‑performing loans, and supporting the overall financial health of Banco BIC. As part of the Credit Risk Management department, you will be involved in the full credit lifecycle, from initial analysis to ongoing monitoring and reporting. The role offers exposure to a diverse range of sectors, including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and public sector projects, aligning with the bank’s commitment to support Angola’s economic diversification.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit analyses for corporate and SME loan proposals, including financial statement review, cash flow modeling, and industry risk assessment.
- Prepare detailed credit memorandums and present findings to the Credit Committee for approval.
- Monitor the performance of existing credit exposures, identify early warning signals, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and update the credit risk database, ensuring data accuracy and timely reporting.
- Collaborate with relationship managers to structure loan terms that align with risk appetite and client needs.
- Assist in the development and refinement of credit risk policies, scoring models, and risk rating methodologies.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes and ensure compliance with the Bank of Angola’s prudential guidelines.
- Support stress‑testing exercises and scenario analysis to evaluate portfolio resilience.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to convey complex risk concepts clearly.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Knowledge of Angolan banking regulations and credit risk frameworks.
- Proficiency in credit risk software or loan management systems is a plus.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or loan underwriting within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with corporate, SME, or project finance portfolios is highly valued.
Salary
