Job Overview
This role is part of John Deere’s initiative to expand precision agriculture adoption in Angola. The Precision Agriculture Specialist will lead the implementation of advanced farming technologies, including GPS-guided equipment, data analytics, and soil health monitoring systems. The position is based in Saurimo, a key agricultural hub in Angola, and offers opportunities to contribute to food security and rural development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy precision agriculture solutions for large-scale farming operations.
- Analyze agricultural data to optimize crop yields and resource efficiency.
- Train farmers and agricultural workers on the use of John Deere’s smart farming technologies.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify regional agricultural challenges and opportunities.
- Conduct field assessments to evaluate the performance of precision tools and recommend improvements.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and agricultural data analysis software.
- Strong understanding of crop science and soil management principles.
- Experience with John Deere or similar precision agriculture platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work in both field and office environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- Advanced certifications in precision agriculture or agri-tech tools are preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in agricultural technology, preferably in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Proven track record in implementing data-driven farming solutions.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
