Job Overview
The Digital Payments Product Manager will lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of digital payment products, from ideation and market research through design, development, launch, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Head of Digital Banking, the successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams including engineering, compliance, risk, marketing, and operations to ensure that product solutions meet regulatory standards, customer expectations, and business objectives. This role is pivotal in shaping the bank’s digital payments roadmap, driving innovation, and delivering measurable value to both the organization and its customers. As part of a forward‑thinking team, the manager will also monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to keep Standard Bank at the forefront of the FinTech landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the product strategy for digital payment solutions, aligning with the bank’s overall digital transformation goals.
- Conduct market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to identify unmet needs and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive user experiences that comply with local regulations and security standards.
- Work with engineering teams to prioritize features, manage backlogs, and ensure timely delivery of product releases.
- Develop business cases, pricing models, and go‑to‑market plans that drive adoption and revenue growth.
- Monitor product performance metrics, analyze data, and implement iterative improvements based on user feedback.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank of Angola’s payment regulations, AML/KYC requirements, and data protection laws.
- Engage with external fintech partners, payment processors, and technology vendors to expand the product ecosystem.
- Prepare and present regular updates to senior leadership, highlighting key achievements, risks, and strategic recommendations.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of digital payments, mobile wallets, and electronic fund transfer systems.
- Proven product management experience in the financial services or fintech sector.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing payments in Angola and the SADC region.
- Agile methodology experience and proficiency with product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Leadership mindset with a collaborative, results‑oriented approach.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or PMP are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of product management experience, with at least two years focused on digital payments or related financial technology solutions. Experience working within a regulated banking environment in Angola or other African markets is preferred. Demonstrated success in launching digital products that achieved measurable adoption and revenue targets is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 Angolan Kwanza (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a comprehensive retirement plan.
