Position Overview
Sonangol E.P. is seeking a highly motivated Drilling Engineer to support offshore drilling campaigns, well planning activities, drilling optimization initiatives, and operational excellence programs. The successful candidate will work closely with subsurface, production, HSE, and rig teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations across Angola’s offshore assets.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute drilling programs for offshore exploration and development wells.
- Prepare well plans, casing designs, mud programs, and directional drilling strategies.
- Monitor drilling performance and optimize operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with drilling contractors, service companies, and offshore rig teams.
- Conduct risk assessments and well control reviews.
- Analyze drilling data and provide technical recommendations.
- Manage drilling budgets and cost control initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with international drilling standards and HSE regulations.
- Participate in well integrity management and operational audits.
- Support completion and workover planning activities.
- Review drilling reports and prepare technical documentation.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for drilling performance.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drilling Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master’s Degree is advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- 5–10 years of drilling engineering experience.
- Experience in offshore drilling projects preferred.
- Exposure to deepwater or ultra-deepwater operations is an advantage.
- Experience with drilling software and well planning tools.
